To me, the reason the statement “the Bible is the word of God” is insufficient is because God’s Word exists outside of and apart of any one book, or translation, or understanding thereof. The Bible may be a manifestation of God’s Word, but it is not, in and of itself, the totality of God’s Word. Kind of like how all squares are rectangles, but not all rectangles are squares.
