God is Love: So Are You, Live Out Who You Are

Submitted by Stephen Winters

True love is from God and is based upon who He is; "God is Love." Because He is love, he is the source of all true love.

Now what does that mean? God loves because that is who he is. That is His nature. We are his children. As his children, we take on the character and nature of God: therefore we are love. We love because that is who we are. Also, remember,  love is a verb,  it is a "being"  and "doing" word.  Love is who we are and, because of that, love is what we do.

Now, what is love?

"Love is patient, love is kind, it is not envious. Love does not brag, it is not puffed up.

It is not rude, it is not self-serving, it is not easily angered or resentful.

It is not glad about injustice, but rejoices in the truth.

It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends."

Begin each day remembering who you are: You are love.

Remember, you don'thave to "try" to love. Rather, you are love.

Give deep and repeated thought to what love is, and remember, that is who you are.

Since you are love by nature, live each moment from that realization

When life gets busy;

Remember, you are love. Live out who you are.

Be Kind to those around you. Always take time to help someone, to give a kind word.

When you see that others have life easier than you:

Remember, you are love. Live out who you are.

Don't be envious, but be thankful for who you are.

When life gets difficult and when it seems  that everything is against you.

Remember, you are love. Live out who you are.

Be Kind to those around you. Be appreciative to everyone for whatever they have to give.

In the process, look for how you can lighten someone else's burden

And in the process you find your spirits lifted and your burdened lightened.

When you are feeling pressured and all stressed out:

Remember who you are; you are love;

Take a deep breath, calm yourself down.

Get your eyes off of yourself and look to help those around you.

Give a smile and kind words to those you meet.

If you are in a time of plenty and you have more than enough

Remember, you are love. Live out who you are.

Do not be full of pride, remember it can all be taken away in a moment

Rather, think of how you can bless others

Be generous to those around you.

When things are tight and you don't have enough:

Remember, you are love. Live out who you are.

Be generous to those around you.

Give what you have, give yourself, give your smiles, be helpful

Remember, your lack of possessions do not determine who you are.

Then you are mistreated and you feel anger about to explode within you

Remember, you are love. Live out who you are.

Be kind to those who mistreat you. Remember hurt(ing) people hurt people.

Be a soothing baum for their soul

Remember, you treat them with love and compassion,

not because of who they are, but because of who you are. You are love.

Did you try to something nice only to have it be refused? Do you feel anger or bitterness stirring within?

Remember, you are love. Live out who you are.

How you respond to his refusal takes you down a path of either love or hate.

Let go of the anger, it will only hurt you and those whom you love

If you can to nothing else for him, think kind thoughts toward him until the time is right.

Did you try to be real and be vulnerable with someone? Did you share your deepest shame only to be rejected?

Remember, you are love. Live out who you are.

Remember,  his rejection of you is really a rejection of that part of himself.

By sharing you exposed his own weakness that he couldn't face.  So he rejected you.

Have compassion on him as you realize the shame that he is facing within

His rejection of you  is not about who you are, but about what is inside of him

True Love does not excuse wrongdoing.

Rather, it wants to see the offender set free from his tendencies to offend and harm others.

Our responses toward the offeender, whether we send him to a counselor or to prison, is not of hate or anger,

but rather of compassion and wellbeing for him as we help him face the demons within.

As you see that you are love, remember to always live out who you are.

Remember, everything that comes your way, can be a vehicle to do you great harm or to help strengthen you into the character and likeness of God. It all depends upon your attitude and response. When you respond with love even to your worst enemies (as it is written, "Love your enemies"), then that great love takes deeper root within you and becomes a stronger force in your life. Remember, if you only love those who love you, what are doing more than others. Remember, as a child of that great Love, you are love. Live out that love. Living a life of true love is not dependent upon circumstance. It is not dependent upon how you are treated. (ask any true parent of a teenager).

Remember, always live out love because that is who you are!
