There is a realm in the computer world called "Open Source". In this realm many people all work together on software to make it better,
I use an Open Source website software called Drupal to make this website.
In a Drupal Video Tutorial called "Essential knowledge for Drupal beginners" (DrupalCon Denver) by Itangalo the speaker had this to say about Drupal Certification
"We have no official certification in the Drupal World. You will not find an offical paper saying 'I'm an official Drupal developer. And if you find that paper, I can tell you right now, that you should not to take it too seriously because there is no official certification. There has been quite a bit of discussion about this, and there certainly are certain positive affects of having certification, like credibility is a good thing. On the other hand there are people who think that.certification will harm the drupal community because people will start focusing on the certification skills and the things that you need to become certified and focus less on the things we do to make the community better...." http://www.10minuteflash.com/t6045 37:27 minutes into the video
This caught my attention because it seems to applicable to the "Christian" community. I would equate certification in the computer world with "Christian ministries" and "Christian" titles, etc.
